Dear River Grove Families, Staff, and Community

Early this morning, Governor Tim Walz held a conference call with charter and district school leaders to discuss COVID-19 in Minnesota. Governor Walz, the MDE, and the MDH ordered a statewide closure of schools beginning Wednesday, March 18 to Friday, March 27.

Because River Grove is already extending spring break for two days, River Grove will be closed from Monday, March 16 to Friday, March 27, 2020. At this time, we expect the school to reopen on Monday, March 30. However, this is a fluid and quickly changing situation in uncharted territory.

Governor Walz and the MDE have directed schools to use this time to further develop a comprehensive e-learning plan to continue to deliver daily instruction. River Grove teachers and staff will meet on Monday, March 16 to further discuss our plan. Because we are a small, responsive school, we are able to move quickly and expect to have our e-learning plan in place well before March 27. More information will be sent as soon as possible.

Ensuring the health and safety of our students, staff, and families is always our most important consideration. Governor Walz and the MDE also instructed schools to use this time to develop a plan to care for the children of first-responders and healthcare workers, and for those who rely on free and reduced lunches. We will send more information regarding River Grove’s plan as soon as possible.

Thank you and take care!
