Distance Learning Plan, Policies, and Procedures

Dear River Grove Families,

Governor Walz has directed all Minnesota schools to implement a distance learning plan that will be in effect through April 30, 2020.

For the past two weeks, our teachers and staff have been working tirelessly to create distance learning lessons which will begin Monday, March 30. As this process is new for all of us, we have put together a Distance Learning Handbook and an FAQ document to help guide families through this process.

You can access these documents as well as other important information here. We ask that each family read these documents carefully, as we hope they will answer many initial questions.

A couple of highlights:

  • Teachers will be distributing weekly lessons to families by Monday of each week (or sooner).
  • Total instruction for core curriculum subjects is designed to take approximately two hours each day.

  • Lessons will primarily be delivered electronically, but modifications and non-electronic resources are available to all families to ensure access to classroom content.

  • Families are responsible for entering daily attendance starting Monday, March 30 using this online sign-in form.

  • Students receiving special education and support services will have continued access to that programming.

Our goal is to provide a distance learning program that promotes continuous academic growth during this period. While not ideal, we believe our talented teaching and support staff are prepared to provide the best possible instruction, given the circumstances.

Additionally, as we move forward with this program, our policies, procedures and implementation may be subject to change. We will frequently review our utilization of this model and notify families of key changes when they occur.

Finally, I want to commend all of you for your patience and understanding during this uncertain time. We are united with a common goal of continuing the important work of educating our children, I know well that Team Grove is up to the challenge!

Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Take care,

Drew Goodson, School Director
