Monthly Friday Teacher Collaboration Periods Approved by the School Board
Our teaching staff has committed to some very exciting initiatives for this coming school year, including school-wide thematic curriculum mapping, monthly field trips and/or community expert connections, and community service projects. We plan to host two school-wide celebrations of learning at which students will present findings and demonstrations from various project-based units. All of these initiatives will require intentional planning time from the River Grove teaching staff.
With that additional commitment in mind, the Board has approved a proposal giving teachers a half day once a month to collaborate both within and between grade levels. These half days will occur on the second Friday of each month (with a few exceptions). Students will be released after the final lunch period, with normal busing routes. Paraprofessional staff will be on-hand to provide student care to those who need it.
